My collection titled "Golden Days" is nostalgic of those days from our youth that are forever ingrained in our memory and were the best of times. We all have those memories that we look back on and we can still remember exactly as we felt in that moment, even if just briefly.
My first piece, "Stepping Out in the Garden", is an imaginative take on a moment when you’ve stepped away and found your way into a garden tucked away from everyone and everything else. The garden is in full bloom and has the most unusual but beautiful flowers you’ve ever seen or smelled. You’ve never seen anything like it before.
My next piece, "A Fairytale Debut" is an interpretation of a magical evening at a ball, dancing the night away, feeling oh so glamorous, getting into some good trouble, and knowing it will be a time you’ll remember forever. I've had a few of these nights in past days, and I love the juxtaposition of being so dressed up and fancy but acting so wild and free. They're the nights that if you stop for a second and take it all in, you realize it's probably a night you'll remember forever.
My final 2 pieces are titled "Sunshower I" and "Sunshower II", and I absolutely LOVE them. I work with an amazing local framer who sources one of a kind authentic antique frames, and reworks/reuses them by cutting them down into custom frames for artwork - making them like new! I love the concept of taking something old that was no longer being used and repurposing it into something beautiful. And who doesn't love vintage frames? The "Sunshower" pieces are an imaginative interpretation of that feeling of being caught outside in the summer rain, and all of the sudden the sun comes out yet it's still raining. There's something just so beautiful and magical about that to me.
Here are a few more behind the scenes photos of me exploring the grounds while I was doing the shoot for this collection. It was absolutely dreamy, I could have stayed there forever!
Thank you so much for letting me share with you what this collection means. I hope you are able to connect with these paintings and their stories, and that they mean something to you as well. Let me know what you think in the comments below!
